JUBA, 17 March 2013 [Gurtong]-“Love for my people and thinking for the future made me to do this so as to unite us,” he said.

Sabio said that initially he made it for himself because he saw that the need for unity among the Bari people is paramount.

Advised by youth and elders from the Bari community, he had to make some changes so that it can be an anthem for the community.

According to him, he did not compose it to be paid and has not been paid but the love to see his people united was a factor behind the anthem.

Composed late 2009, the anthem is now sung in all Bari occasions and whenever they are called to perform something.

He expressed happiness for composing the anthem.

“I am happy because God gave me a thought to offer to my people,’ he said.

He further said that the love among themselves will make them prosper and thank his people for accepting his ideas in the call for unity.

The six stanza anthem talks about unity, respect for the land, patriotism, pride and protection of their land.

The Bari People hail from Central Equatoria and are the indigenous of Juba, the South Sudanese capital.
