JUBA, 8 October 2013 [Gurtong] - The boat had containers of fuel when it caught the fire at around 5pm in what some observers suspected to have occurred as a result of carelessness.

The cause of the fire could not be established at the time of the press.

Zubeir Taban, the manager of the port in a statement said the boat had to be quickly moved away from the rest to avoid other boats from catching fire.

At the time the boat caught the fire, there was no fire extinguisher for aid.

The Commander of the Fire Brigade Brig. Gen. Kenedy Got said his unit could not rescue the boat from the fire because the boat on fire was far in river Nile though his team was already alert for any another eventuality.

This is one of the critical fire out breaks at the river port following another of similar incident in August.
