Warrap State Government Dispatches Convoy Delivering Food To Hunger Affected Communities

The government of Warrap State on Monday said that about 15,000 bags of sorghum have been dispatched from Juba to the hunger affected areas in the state.

JUBA, 20 Apr. 15 [Gurtong] -
The government spokesman, Hon. Paul Dhel Gum said the sorghum will be sold to the local population at a subsidized price.

“Warrap state dispatched trucks full of food commodities today heading to six counties of the state from Juba. The first convoy is carrying 15,000 bags of dura meant to be sold with affordable prices in the counties,” Gum stated.

The Governor of Warrap State, Madam Nyandeng  Malek  has been soliciting the business community to deliver food items to the state as there is a shortage of supply in the market.

This she says is due to the poor harvest of crops late last year that was caused by heavy rains leading to flooding in the area.

Warrap State is now facing a hunger threat.

“This came as a result of the recent call by the state Governor Hon Nyandeng Malek echoing the looming hunger in Warrap state,” Gum added.

Hon. Andrea Aguer Ariik, Warrap’s Finance Minister is said to be currently heading the procurement process to ensure that the food all six counties in the State.
