AWEIL, 06 January 2016 [Gurtong]-Lieutenant Colonel Diing Reech during a press conference on Tuesday said that the success in registering no road accidents for the whole of December was through the tireless efforts played by his traffic team whom he said had sleepless nights to make sure that all traffic rules are adhered to.
Diin also acknowledged motorists for being careful on the roads during the festive season and urged them to continue with the same spirit to avoid unnecessary accidents.
He warned those who do not obey traffic rules and regulations saying that anyone found will be face the law.
“We are ready to cover the recent States announced by the President to deploy traffic personnel to control irresponsible driving or ridding of motorbikes. We learnt that small boys carry 3 passengers this is dangerous, whereas it is not advisable to do so but should you attempt, we will confiscate your bike and you will face the fine of traffic rules negligence.” He said.
He also warned those without number plates for their cars and boda-bodas including private motorbike.
“To minimize theft and reckless driving with these drivers/motorists, we decided to give them number plates which distinguishes them from others but the turn up has been very slow, otherwise we would have started with those ridding without number plates.” Said Diing.
