BOR, 07 June 2016 [Gurtong] – Farmers in Twic East are worried of the animal migration that begun in mid-May this year.

The animals usually around May cross over from the Eastern banks of the Nile, in Duk County to Twic East in Jonglei State.

Twic East Commissioner, Dau Akoi Jurkuch said the animals including, Elephants, and Buffalos have blocked roads and have created fear to the local farmers.

“The most dangerous thing now is that the elephants have blocked one of the roads coming to Wernyol and Ding-bul, then Kiir To Panyangor they have already blocked and also the other road going to Pajokok, north of Wernyol is already blocked,” Jurkuch said.

“The only fear is that they are disturbing the community while they are now cultivating,” added Jurkuch.

In March, the deputy Director of Wildlife in Jonglei State, Brigadier Andrew Dier Beny announced the movements of the animals.
