RUMBEK, 08 June 2016 [Gurtong]- The Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency, Benjamin Makuer said the Gelwong youth looted 300 cows which were being transported to Eastern Lakes State.

The Commissioner of Rumbek East County, Madit Malual Kachuol said efforts to recover the lost cattle are on-going as he is in contact with his Counterpart Commissioner of Rumbek Central County Mawet Manuer in Pacong.

“There is good progress in the mobilization of cattle raided by Gelwong Arms Youth and we are now together where cattle are being mobilized and gathered.”

The 3 Governors of Gok, Eastern and Western Lakes States on Thursday last week in a joint meeting held in Eastern Lakes State capital Yirol agreed to reduce rampant insecurity, cattle raiding and renovate roads from Terekeka up to Northern Bhar el-Ghazal States.

The executive Director of Rumbek East County, Madit Malual Ater in an interview with Gurtong on Monday said that the security along the neighboring States of Western and Eastern Lakes States is however, calm.

“The people of Rumbek East County are enjoying peace and unity which was brought to them by their Commissioner but the problem of revenge killings and cattle raiding in Rumbek Central County is greatly disturbing and affecting us seriously.”
