Woman Killed By Police Husband After Argument Over Finances

AWEIL, 08 June 2016 [Gurtong] - A 40-year old police officer shot his wife on the head killing her instantly over a disagreement they had over finances.

Corporal Majok Garang also known as Majok-karabdit shot his wife on Saturday at Zirah residential area before surrendering himself to the police on the same day.

James Mawien a CID officer says the culprit is still under detention and will be taken to court for hearing.

“Yeah, this police shot his wife and reported himself to us. We are currently keeping him until we take him to court for judgment,” James told Gurtong.

Nyanut Bol, an eyewitness at Zirah residential area told Gurtong what occurred.

“As a neighbour, I saw them quarrelling over 200 SSP which the husband apparently lost on Friday evening and on the same day, the husband went and bought a cock and gave it to his wife to be prepared for breakfast. The cock disappeared like the 200 SSP. So that us when their quarrel began but never ended until the shooting occurred resulting to the death of the wife.” She explained.

The police are yet to give a clear explanation as to what exactly ensued between the couple.
