Aweil Town Mayor Orders Suspension Of Town Survey
Following conflicts over land in some residential areas where one land is allegedly sold to three or two buyers by landlords, or two owners claiming ownership of one plot, the town municipality under the town Mayor has issued an executive order cancelling surveys or public buy-outs of some plots.

AWEIL, 07 February 2017 [Gurtong] - This is according to the municipality is as an alternative to minimize conflicts and selling of lands by wrongful owners in residential areas.
The municipality said the new order has already come into effect and will exist in practice until new changes are enforced with another executive circular.
The order has been welcomed by the residents as they believe this will reduce conflict.
Achol Bol Wol, a resident of Mathiang whose land has had several court hearings for similar reason has welcomed the decision taken by the town Mayor, Simon Tong Deng to suspend the surveys or selling of lands out to companies or individuals by the physical infrastructure office unless otherwise approved by the committee.
She says the move will be helpful to the civilians and will promote unity and rightful ownership of lands.
