AWEIL, 07 February, 2017 [Gurtong]- According to the officials from both States, the meeting was brought about purposely to have a clear understanding of the border conflict between the newly appointed Governor of Gogrial State and that of Aweil.

Aweil State Governor Ronald Ruay Deng during a one-day visit to neighbouring Gorgrial met with the newly appointed Governor, Gen. Gregory Deng Kuach last Friday, to discuss those major burning issues.

Aweil’s Information Minister, Wieu Mayuol Anguei confirmed the visit, saying the two Governors discussed border relations between the two States during a closed-door meeting in Kuacjok.
He pointed out that the discussion focused on how cattle keepers between the two neighbouring States can coexist without conflicts.

Though there had been some cases of cattle theft between Aguok community of Gogrial and Buonchuai of Aweil States, in April 2016, local authorities in Malek-alel County in Aweil State managed to return about 51 stolen cattle to their owners in Kuacjok as a sign of peaceful coexistence between the neighbouring counties.
