RUMBEK, 08 February 2017 [Gurtong]-Speaking during the takeover of chairmanship of the civil society network leadership, Isaac said that his first priority will be capacity building for civil society organizations members in Lakes State and that he will call upon other members of the network to strategize on some of the issues which are hindering their activities.
Mr. Isaac Majier who is the State coordinator of CEPO urged members of the civil society network operating in the State not to speak out on behalf of the network without consultation and verification of statements from the network leadership.
“The network should not operate as the opposition to the government but as a bridge between the community and the government by advocating on the issues affecting the society such as service delivery and respect to rule of law.” He said.
The outgoing chairperson of the civil society network (CiSON), John Malith Rual during the handing over said the role of the network is to give services to the community with support from the government and the international organizations.
The civil society network is founded by groups of organizations operating in Lakes State and is being supported by its member organizations, national and international organizations.
The process leading to the election of new leadership of the civil society network was organized and facilitated by the Disable Association for Rehabilitation Development (DARD).
