CSO Holds Rule Of Law Workshop In Wau

A civil society organization operating in Wau, Tonj and Awiel States called Change Makers South Sudan (CMSS) on Monday held a one day public lecture on accountability and rule of law in Wau town.

WAU, 05 December 2017 [Gurtong]–
The workshop which is being attended by over 50 participants from various intuitions aims at promoting public advocacy on peace awareness, accountability, human rights and of rule of law among others.

Speaking to Gurtong during the workshop, the organization Project officer, Deng Akol Mathiang said the workshop will enable the participants to acquire the knowledge on the rule of law.

“Today we are working on a public lecture on peace accountability and rule of law. You know our country has a lot of issues related to law and we need to be law abiding citizens, whether in civil life or in the army or which ever. Today we are targeting different levels of organizations, CSOs, we are targeting the prison police, we are targeting local government administrators, the executive and even members from the State assembly,” he said.

“Our target is to make sure everybody is a peace maker and that is what we shall be doing, we want peace to prevail in the country, in our homes, in the villages in towns and in South Sudan generally.” He said.
