-According to eye witnesses, the fire started at around 11 am destroying property in the upper floors before it was extinguished in the afternoon. There were no casualties according to police report.

The Acting Police Spokesperson, Colonel James Dak Carlo yesterday said the cause of the fire was still unknown, but hinted that it could have been caused by an electric short circuit.

Carlo said he was still waiting for all the information from Munuki police station, South Sudan Fire Brigade Services, and UNMISS in order to determine the cause of the fire.

A woman who went missing after the fire was today found unharmed.

“One of the missing women whom people thought had died was found today with  her baby in good condition. She escaped through the fire and got traumatized, now she needs counselling,” Col. Carlo said.

One of the workers at Headline who spoke on condition of anonymity said the fire begun in one of the floors of the building possibly due to an electric short circuit.

Another eye witness said he heard a big blast in the building which was later followed by smoke.

“I heard a blast and I saw smoke coming out of the building. I rushed here and saw the building burning.” He said.

“I was up stairs and I didn’t know what was happening. I heard noise and my friends told me there was fire. When I got near the stairs there was smoke and I could not pass the fire. I was worried but thank God I survived,” he said.

South Sudan Fire Brigade services and the United Nations Mission in South Sudan rushed to the scene with water tanks to extinguish the fire. Property was already damaged before the flame was out off.
