WAU, 05 February 2018 [Gurtong] - SPLA officer Col. Mathok Akec died last year in August following claims that he died of food poisoning according to his family.

Dr Nixon Anthony was arrested after a court issued a warrant of arrest following the deceased family complaint.

Dr. Anthony said he was arrested after conducting a post-mortem report in which he dismissed claims that the late had died due to food poisoning.

According to the doctor, Col Mathok died of intestinal illness and not food poisoning as earlier reported.

However, the court issued a warrant of arrest for further investigation.

Earlier in January 2018, Dr Anthony was released on bail after he spent 26 days in jail.

A Kenyan national was also ordered to pay a compensation of 31 heads of cattle for having prepared the suspected food served during the workshop where the late was attending.
