Two Killed In Eastern Lakes During A Clash Between Apuk And Akuei Communities

At least two People were killed and 10 others wounded during a fight that erupted between members of the Akuei and Apuk communities in Awairial County in Eastern Lakes State last week.

YIROL, 21 February 2018 [Gurtong]-The fighting broke out during a wrestling match that was on-going between the communities.

The Commissioner of Aweirial North County in Eastern Lakes State, Juk Blawi Manyot said the government intervened immediately and the fight was stopped.

Juk urged the local youth in his area to shun tribalism and embrace peace and dialogue among themselves.

“Wrestling is a popular sport among the people of South Sudan in Eastern Lakes which is used by the young people to test their strength without resorting to bloody violence” said the Commissioner.
