Yei River State Governor Promises To Restore Peace And Unity

The Governor of Yei River State says his top priority in office is restoration of peace, security and uniting communities across the thirteen Counties of the State.

Addressing thousands of residents at Yei Freedom Square upon his arrival to the State capital Yei on Wednesday, Emmanuel Adil Anthony said his efforts will focus on ensuring that the people of the State witness stable security promote peace and reconciliation up to the grass root levels.

“My people of Yei I have been with you and I know that you experienced several challenges; I want to tell you that time has come for us to live in peace with one another. I want to assure you that the new government of Yei River State will work for peace and stability in the State,” said Adil.

Adil called on the people of Yei to put aside their differences and work for a better Yei.
“As I assume my assignment today, my priority will focus on, stabilization of security and enforcement of the rule of law through peace and reconciliation where we need each other most to overcome this challenges so that Yei becomes a model of peace in South Sudan” he added.

He also said despite the current economic challenges, the State government will work hard to use the local resources to deliver services to the people of Yei.

“I know your expectations for service delivery are endless, time has come for all of us to put our hands together to deliver services and development in Yei River State. The time for war is over; it’s time for us to embrace unity for peace as South Sudanese” Adil said.

Adil also called on Yei River State intellectuals, community leaders, politicians and religious leaders both within and in the Diaspora to stand for unity, peace and work for a better Yei.
“To all the people of Yei including community chiefs, religious leaders, politicians to get united so that the citizens can see us united so that the people can see peace and unity by action so that we can move Yei River State forward.”

Meanwhile Samuel Baba a local resident in Yei River State is calling on the Governor to ensure that the people of Yei live in peace and are protected.

“What we expect from the new State government is peace, stable security situation so that we go to our farms, better health services, and good roads, clean drinking water and electricity for development” said Baba.
