WAU, 12 June, 2018 [Gurtong]-The patients were registered since last month from different Counties in the State including two from neighbouring Tonj and one from Gogrial States.
The patients who are currently undergoing free treatment are also being offered free meals a day and free accommodation, according to a hospital official.
Speaking to Gurtong last Friday at Wau teaching hospital, Agum Isaac, Acting Medical Director at the Hospital said the women will soon be discharged.
“We are now expecting more women suffering from obstetric fistula to come to the hospital for treatment because what we are doing is free treatment to those who are suffering from this long uncontrollable passing of urine,” she said.
Obstetric fistula is a hole between the birth canal and the rectum or the bladder that is caused by prolonged labour, leaving a woman with an uncontrolled flow of urine or faeces or both.
