WAU, 18 June, 2018 [Gurtong] -Speaking to Gurtong during an occasion held to mark the World Blood Donor day on Thursday Dr. Achu Dominic Batista outlined many challenges including lack of power and  lack of funds to carry out public donation awareness.

“There is no constant power and the second thing, we have the challenge of budget, lack of a budget to go for blood donation campaign out to churches, to markets, to schools. We have no budget for that,” she said.

President Salva Kiir inaugurated a ward that contains a laboratory, a digital X-ray machine and blood transfusion facility, provided with the support of the Canadian ministry of health at Wau teaching hospital in 2014.

During the ceremony, Kiir urged the public to voluntarily turn out for blood donations.
