The South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) which also refused to sign the deal on Tuesday also signed the deal, meaning all the parties and stakeholders to the peace talks signed the initial peace agreement.

The SPLM/A-IO and SSOA had rejected to ink the preliminary deal which the Transitional Government of National Unity, Former Detainees and Other Political Parties signed on Tuesday.

They had disagreed over the number of States and the proposed procedures for the permanent Constitution making process, saying the changes made in power sharing and constitution making process had been ignored in the draft.

Rajab Mohandis, a Civil Society Delegate to the High Level Revitalization Forum said the SPLM-IO signed the preliminary agreement but some issues which they wanted be resolved will be referred to IGAD Council of Ministers.

“We applaud the parties on this achievement and call on them to adhere to the commitments they have made to the people of South Sudan in this Revitalized Agreement,” Mohandis said. “They should not let the people down.”

“They should move with speed, honesty and energy to implement this agreement and end the suffering of our Citizens. We commit to work with them in the implementation of this agreement,” he said.

The parties will now start development of the implementation Matrix for the agreement, before its endorsement by IGAD Heads of States and Government.

After the endorsement, the parties and stakeholders will then sign the full text of the Revitalized Agreement for Resolution of Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan.
