Last SPLA-IO Groups In Bessilia County Arrive in Wau Town

As confident and trust building for peace continue in Wau State, the last proportion of armed groups that were in Besselia County arrived in Wau town on Tuesday. They were lead by Brigadier General Peter Ngoli.

WAU, 30, January 2019 [Gurtong] - Addressing the turnout at Wau State Council of Ministers, where the groups were received by the state government under Angelo Taban Biajo and citizens, Angelo Taban said the rebellion has now come to an end in Wau State as the state witnessed the arrival of the last batch.

“You the people of Besselia county, you have seen today that the last opposition groups that were in the area have arrived in Wau town. The state has now finally achieved the lasting peace,” Taban told the gathering.

He also said the opposition around Wau town have demonstrated their commitment to peace as they have now jointed the state government for peace implementation.

“As the state governor, I am here to assure you that there will be no more gun shots heard around Wau as we have reached our finally destination.”

The arrival of the groups followed an invitation extern to them by the state government and facilitated by CTSAM a day the state government launched Dissemination of Revitalized Peace Deal reached last year by the warring parties.

On his part while addressing the gathering, IO Brigadier General Peter Ngoli assured the state citizens of free movement to Bessilia County and also free movement through Wau- Raga road.

“The roads are all opened. You are free to move wherever you want to go around Wau especially western part,” Ngoli told the citizens.

“We have signed to the peace and we have to implement it without problems. Our people have suffered during these five years of conflict and this is the time for us to joint our hands to implement this peace,” he added.

Peter Ngoli also assured the SSPDF 5th Infantry Division through the Acting Division Commander, Major General Joshua, that they will peace among themselves.
