Wau, 07, March 2019 [GURTONG] – A school is set to host nearly100 children currently roaming the streets in Tonj town without proper parental care. The school is being constructed by Lulu organization in Wun Alel residential areas within Tonj town.

Program Manager Mr Deng Madut told Gurtong on Wednesday that the aim is to transform street children spiritually and mentally into productive citizens.

“These children are helpful, only that they are being seen as a threat because of their street live experiences, but if they are oriented and given good skills, they can help in the community. This is why we opened this school for them,” he said.

The school is said to a reformatory training centre that would host multiple training skills.

Deng cites the challenges facing them in the school including food as the main challenge.

He urges parents to control their children to avoid random movement of children on the streets and prepare them for better future.
