WAU, 04, April 2019 [GURTONG] - The commissioner of Kwajina County in Wau State said the humanitarian situation in his county is worsening.

In an inclusive interview with Bahr Juok Ucu, Ucu, the Commissioner, said the humanitarian situation in the county, since the 6th March 2019 attack, is worsening. “Civilians”, he said “are suffering because the humanitarian organizations did not turn up with either water, plastic sheets or even food, these people are right now still sheltering under the tress without anything.”

Last week Tonj State Governor issued a local order, ordering all cattle keepers to return to their home areas. Although all the cattle keepers responded to the order, Ucu said some armed men were still deteriorating his civil population with the latest attack on civilians only yesterday in Akuoyo Boma.

“The cattle keepers have all returned to Tonj Stat, yet some people we could not identify weather they were soldiers, criminals or who ever they were, attacked Akuoyo Boma yesterday. They do mobilized themselves and launched offensive attack on the civilians. Yesterday, on the 1st of April, they attacked civilians in Akuoyo but, good enough, the national security managed to contain the
situation and no one was injured,” he said.

He said the attack did not result in any casualties because the national security forces that are there on the ground immediately responded against the attackers.

However, the commissioner said the situation was relatively returning to normal, though yesterday’s attack triggered fear in the heart of the citizens that were affected in the first attack in March, in which 15 people were reported killed.
