Promises of Resumption Of Power To Wau Town Soon

“When they come back again, we will let citizens in Wau know what steps we have reached and from there, we will tell the people that you will see the lights soon, that power will come back,” he added.

Wau, 25, July, 2019 (GURTONG) - Wau Town Director for Electricity and Power Supply has announced it is expecting soon to resume operation of it electricity power supply to the residential areas within Wau Town after more than 9 years power absence.

In an inclusive interview with Gurtong, the state director Ernesto Bol Acho said the national ministry of Electricity, Energy and Dam have last month signed an agreement with a local national power supply company to renovate the station.

“The building of a protection fence around the station premise have now began,” Ernesto Bol Acho told Gurtong.

He said the operation of the power station will commence once the company secure the loan from the National Ministry of Finance but currently, Trinity Company has began building the fence around the premise as it first phase.

“What has started is that after the Trinity Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Electrify & Dams and they are now waiting for the loan from the Ministry of Finance.

“While waiting, they have started with the protection because when you take steps to bring your materials, there should be a protection of properties that are already on the site and those coming,” he said.

“This is what the agreement is: they will operate a system called “BOOT”. What is BOOT? The first B is to Build the station (O) is Owning the station and the other (O) is to Operate the station while (T) to Transfer ownership and to repair of the machines which are available.

“When they come back again, we will let citizens in Wau know what steps we have reached and from there, we will tell the people that you will see the lights soon, that power will come back,” he added.

“The other step is that they will increase the supply. They are bringing some additional generators that will increase power for the whole of Wau Town.

Wau Electricity Power, which was established by an Egyptian Company and Implemented by the Southern Sudan Electricity Corporation, stopped operations in 2011 due to fuel scarcity.

They should be thinking of a dam up the river below Busere instead of wasting money and time on diesel generators
