Community Empowerment For Progress Organization

(Juba 01th June, 2020). The month of July is the beginning of South Sudan financial year. Normally, from the month of April up to June the government is busy in national budgetary process. Today we on 29th May, 2020 there is total silence about national budget process. Some of the key factor that attributed to this silence is the slow competition of the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity at the levels of National Legislative Assembly, State and Local Governments.

Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of CEPO said the political parties signatories to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan are committing dangerous political mistake by dragging the country to run public services without official national budget in this model era of politics.

The level of the political mistrust and lack of confidence among the political parties have reached to the level of holding the nation hostage. Civil servants and security forces are expected to deliver services to the nation while there is no national budget

Political parties’ signatories to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan are demonstrating an act of taking no responsibility for exercise their primary task and duties for delivering the nation of suffering of their own acts. Currently, political maturity is urgently required from the South Sudan political parties to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan. Mr. Yakani stressed.

CEPO in an honorable and sincere manner is calling upon the political parties to rescue the nation for operating without official state budget. At current moment; where the country is facing a lot of shocks namely COVID-19, Desert locust, Floods and deadly inter-communal violence, besides the implementation of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan. This will be a trouble political mistake committed by the parties to the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan.
