MALAKAL, 08 February 2010 (Gurtong) – The aim of the training was to equip the students with skills to enable them gather and disseminate information effectively besides giving them practical experience as they undertake their studies at the University.
The opening session held at the broadcasters’ premises in Madirra was graced by the university’s Vice Chancellor, senior management team of Malakal radio and television as well as journalists.
The university’s Vice Chancellor Bol Deng commended the media house for conducting the training, saying that it will greatly improve the journalistic skills of the students.
“I am impressed by your gesture to develop the students’ standards in journalism as this will also aid their marketability once they clear their studies”, he said.
He pledged his support to the media fraternity and the students in a bid to ensure wide sharing of information in Upper Nile State.
The university boss called for more efforts in a bid to match international broadcasting standards, adding that by so doing, Upper Nile State’s activities will be widely known.
The university students appreciated the training session terming it “a great post - Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) achievement in terms of information sharing”.
“This kind of training will give us more experience and exposure in our field and we believe we will have the best skills in the job market”, said a student.
