Call For Journalist Training & Workshop: Election Reporting & Coverage

The Sudan Media and Elections Consortium SMEC is organizing seven workshops in March for journalists on election reporting. Each workshop is a 3-day comprehensive training for print and broadcast journalists. Four of the workshops will be held in Juba, one in Torit, one in Rumbek and one in Malakal.

One of the four workshops in Juba will be open to media managers and editors-in-chiefs only. The workshops, which build on other training workshops that have been organized for journalists, will provide background on the electoral system as well as training election reporting strategies and techniques.

If you are a journalist working with in Southern Sudan you are warmly welcome to join the training. Register for participation by providing your name, position, the medium you are working for (as freelancer or as staff), contact details and which workshop you prefer to participate in. Journalists living and working outside Juba, Torit, Rumbek and Malakal are also invited to participate.

Media managers and editors-in-chief are also invited to participate in the workshop organized especially for them. If you are a media manager or editor-in-chief working in Southern Sudan, please register for participation by providing your name, position, contact details and the medium you are working for.

Workshop 4: Juba, 17 March – 20 March (for media managers/owners and editors-in-chief only)

Workshop 6: Rumbek, 14 March – 17 March
Workshop 7: Malakal, 20 March – 23 March
