Southern Sudan National Anthem

"I found it fun to scribble some few lines of my imagination of a southern national anthem. It may be nice or horrible I have no idea. It is a trial and if it works or doesn’t fair enough. The southern national anthem goes as below."

By Jacob K. Lupai

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The Land of my Ancestors
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The Land of Beauty and Tranquility
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The Land of Rivers, Mountains, Plains and Forests
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The land of Wealth and Prosperity
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The Land of my Pride and destiny
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

Oh the Land of Cush
The Promised Land
The Land of Warriors and mine for Ever and Ever
I will not forsake thee
I will shed my blood for thee

In God I Trust

Southern Sudan National Anthem

By Nimaya Gwongasuk Manasseh

Our nation and our land,
Blood was every where,
In your peace, shall we remember our heroes

Our nation and our land,
Pride of the black people,
In all your boarders, shall we live in peace.

Our nation and our land,
Be our strength forever,
in your resources, shall we find prosperity

Our nation and our land,
Live for all generations,
In your Almighty God, shall you find security

Pros and Cons About the National Anthem of South Sudan
I would like to take this time to appreciate those who created our national anthem for the time and energy they devouted to this work. However, I want to agree to disagree with them on some aspects of the would-be national anthem of South Sudan. I want to urge them in a friendly manner if they could, to omit words like Cush, Eden, and Oyee totally from the anthem. The name CUSH does not really stand for the people of South Sudan alone but for tribes like Beja Arabs, Oromo in Ethiopia and Somalis. Infact Northern Sudanese, Somalis and Oromo are the original cushites and you can confirm this by similarities such as skin colour, common physical traits, hair texture, ...etc. We totally don't want to see words like Eden in our national anthem because modern Biblical historians and archaelogical excavators have identified Eden with Euphrates and Tigris river of modern Iraq. The name Sudan comes from the Arabic as Bilad as-Sudan (land of the Blacks). Here below I have modified the anthem but I did not change anything from the original context. Only words that do not contribute to the essence of the anthem have been removed. Every one is free to contradict me in this view since we are all striving for the best of the history of our land.

Nile Valley Republic Anthem

Title: Oh Nile Valley Republic!
We praise and glorify you
For your grace upon the Nile, Plain, and Beautiful,
The land of great warriors, indebted in harmony and peace
And origin of world's civilization along the Nile.

Oh Plain Land of the Nile!
Arise, shine, raise your flag with the guiding star
And chant praises of freedom and joy,
For peace, liberty and justice
Shall forever reign along the vicinity of this blessed land of the Nile.

Oh black warriors!
Let's stand up in silence and respect,
Saluting millions of martyrs whose
Blood cemented our national foundation.
We vow to protect our nation.

Oh Incredible!
Land of waters, papyrus and reeds, endowed with honey, birds, forest of thorns, thistles and berries,
Uphold us united in peace
The Nile, coulees, forests and mountains
Shall be our sources of joy and pride.
So Lord bless the Nile Valley Republic!
