RUMBEK, 27 August 2010 (Gurtong) - Magol at the same time advised shopkeepers to find alternative accommodation instead of sleeping at their premises for fear of insecurity of their goods.
He said the police have been trained by the Government of Southern Sudan to protect South Sudanese and their property, adding that businessmen should go about their activities without worrying about insecurity.
He spoke to Gurtong when he conducted the raising of the SPLM flag at his offices in Rumbek.
The Commissioner also urged the town residents to conserve the environment and keep the town clean.
He urged cattle keepers to keep their animals from destroying cultivated farms around the town.
“My priority is to ensure that there is enough security in this county. I am also going to ensure that no more trees are cut down in a bid to conserve the environment”, he said.
Magol also called upon the youth at the cattle camps to refrain from cattle raids and conflicts with youths from the neighbouring Cueibet County and Unity State.
He also pledged to streamline tax collection at the domestic animals auction in the town, saying that some government officials pocketed the revenue instead of channeling it to the state government for development.
He pledged his loyalty to the SPLM party and said he will work hard towards the success of the referendum.
