RUMBEK, 31 August 2010 (Gurtong) - He was accompanied by Commissioners of Rumbek Central and Rumbek East counties and the Lakes State SPLM Secretary Samuel Mathiang Keer.
The two Commissioners who drove in one car accompanied their colleague as a show of solidarity and peace for all the state’s eight counties.
Thousands of members of the Wulu Beli communities turned up in their numbers to welcome the new Commissioner who was recently appointed by the Lakes State Governor Chol Tong Mayay.
Rumbek East County Commissioner David Marial Gumke said they took the initiative as a way of promoting a good working relationship between the county Commissioners in a bid to enhance peace.
“We want the three counties of Rumbek Central, Rumbek East and Wulu to have strong relatinships and we hope this unity will end internal disputes among our youth”, he said.
Commissioner Shulur pledged to address the rampant insecurity within the county as well as conflicts with neighbouring counties.
“My priority before the referendum is to apprehend all culprits who fuel insecurity and bring them to justice”, he said.
The two neighbouring counties of Wulu and Rumbek East have had long standing occurrences of conflicts that have resulted into several deaths and destruction of property.
