Dr. Marial said, “Let Mr. Bashir prove to us and the world that his language is one of peace. Let him send his people back to Addis to start talking.”
Early this week, the Sudanese President Omar Hassan El-Bashir stated after SPLA withdrawal that he isn’t ready to have talks with South Sudan. The minister said challenged president Bashir to work for peace.
“The president even went as far as calling the people of south Sudan Insects, some might laugh at this and dismiss it as childish humour but these are chilling words when we reflect on the terrible events that befell the Tutsis after they were branded ‘cockroaches’ by the Hutus,” he pointed out.
The government of south Sudan welcomed the position of UN, AU, and the international community in condemning the aggression and aerial bombardment of Southern territories by the Sudanese forces.
Juba has appealed and the minister has also repeated that they are appealing to the international community to exert pressure on Khartoum to play its role as a member of the community of Nations, to renounce and join them for talks in Addis to settle their differences once and for all.
“We have always expressed our determination to resolve all outstanding issues by dialogue, recognizing there is no peace for conflict on this continent. Ours is a vision of two independent, viable states living side by side in peace and harmony.”
