NUDF Members Join SPLM

At least 52 members of the National United Democratic Front (NUDF) party have decamped to South Sudan’s leading political party, Sudan Peoples’ Liberation Movement (SPLM).

WAU, 04 May 2012 [Gurtong] - The members were on Wednesday led by the party’s secretary general Charles Uchalla Mong and Mrs Asunta Nikola in joining the SPLM.

They were welcomed by the SPLM state deputy chairperson Joseph Anthony Kpandu and other state SPLM officials, including the chairpersons from Jur River and Wau counties.

Kpandu congratulated the new members and assured them of support by SPLM.

“We are happy that you have joined the SPLM as it is the only party that promotes human rights and respects the choice of the Republic of South Sudan to unite and defend their territory from the northern invasion”, he said.

The new members said their intention to join the SPLM was to unite and fight against the Khartoum aggression on the people of South Sudan.

“I am today urging those who we are together today in the SPLM to work together to protect and build this country based on freedom, prosperity and the will of our people. I also urge other political parties to join us in this fight”, he said.

This is the second time a massive number of other political parties have defected after last year’s  shutting down of the National Congress party office in Wau.
