JUBA, 18 May 2012 [Gurtong] - A member of the opposition in the Central Equatoria State Legislative Assembly, Francis Dabe has criticised the State Governor for violating the state Constitution by appointing numerous Advisors in the new government announced last month.
Dabe, who represents Ngepo Payam in Kajokeji County, said the appointments will only add to the biting economic strain.
“This is a complete violation of the State Constitution which says in article 105 that the government should have three advisors. But now six others have been appointed, making it nine”, said Dabe.
He said the appointments are not economically viable as the state faces several economic challenges ranging from improper roads, inadequate education and health services among others.
“The government should have focused on empowering the rural people by establishing cooperative banks, improving the road infrastructure to promote farming among other developments in the rural areas instead of these appointments”, Dabe said.
Early this month the Central Equatoria State Governor Clement Wani Konga appointed nine advisors in his new government.
Advisors were appointed to the following positions: Special Affairs, Political Affairs, Security, Economics, Gender, Animal Resources and Fisheries among others. In the previous government there were only three advisors on: Gender, Security and Political Affairs.
