JUBA, 31 May 2012 [Gurtong] – The State Governor Clement Wani Konga and the resource mobilisation committee chair Mary Apayi Ayiga told the press in Juba that 200,000 South Sudanese Pounds and assorted food items have so far been raised.

“The 200,000 SSP contribution is from the state government. We appeal to the public to support us in this initiative to support our gallant forces. We must come together and liberate our land once and for all”, said Ayiga.

She called upon the youth to join the SPLA and march to the frontline to defend South Sudan.

“This call also goes out to our religious institutions to enlighten the congregations on the war effort and urge them to contribute in support of our troops”, she said.

She also appealed to organisations such as football associations, women’s groups, artists and the business community to support the cause.

She said food and medicine are some of the needs the committee would wish any donor to contribute towards.
