JUBA, 31 May 2012 [Gurtong] – The Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) spokesman Colonel Philip Aguer told Gurtong that over 60 vehicles were also destroyed in the latest clash between SPLA and the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF).
He said majority of the casualties are SAF soldiers who were ambushed at Wrguet village early this week.
Fighting between the two forces intensified on Tuesday when SAF launched aerial bombardment and long range shooting targeting SPLA bases in Northern Bar El Ghazal.
Colonel Aguer said the SPLA lost eleven soldiers while 46 were wounded.
The latest clash occurred amid resumption of talks between Sudan and South Sudan in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on post-secession issues.
