BOR, 06 June 2012 [Gurtong] – An official at the Ministry Engineer Chol Ayuel Akuei told Gurtong that technicians from Tanzania have been invited to support the efforts due to lack of qualified staffs in the Ministry.

He said that two culverts and two channels will be constructed to control flooding that has hit the town in recent months.

Engineer Akuei said the channel will be constructed along the Panma-Chuor road and at Lanbar.

“There will be a serious monitoring and blocking of the water outlets in the areas along river banks. This will be followed by construction of dykes”, he said.

He cautioned of a likelihood of floods in Malou, Achengdiir and Panliet.

Engineer Akuei at the same time revealed that lack of resources had greatly hampered the Ministry’s efforts to control flooding in the state.
