BOR, 16 June 2012 [Gurtong] – The State Director of Traffic Police Colonel John Manyuon told Gurtong that his office has noticed an emergence of a number of unregistered motorcycles, commonly referred to as boda boda.

“We have embarked on screening of motorcycles operating in Bor town without valid number plates as well as those possessing private number plates. Our operation also seeks to identify those who obtained number plates but have not fixed them in their motorcycles”, he said.

Colonel Manyuon added that only 800 motorcycles have been registered with the rest operating without identification, a situation he termed illegal.

“We have noticed that some of the motorcyclists are adamant to register when asked to do so as most are underage. During the operation we are also going to identify motorcycles owned by young children and some private business cycles”, he said.

He added that the young motorcyclists have contributed to the high accident rates in the town.
