RUMBEK, 21 June 2012 [Gurtong] - Deng told Gurtong that his administration will boost efforts to combat insecurity along the county’s borders.
He said that he will also tackle insecurity internally before celebrations to mark South Sudan’s independence are held next month.
He cautioned those engaged in cattle raids to stop the practice or face the full force of the law.
“I urge all the youth from our county and from neighbouring Wulu and Rumbek East counties to co-exist peacefully. Those found to be propagating crime and violence will be arrested and taken to court”, he said.
Commissioner Deng also said he will embark on creating awareness on the importance of education in the county.
He advised parents to educate their children, adding that girls should be encouraged to go to school, instead of being married off.
