YAMBIO, 23 June 2012 [Gurtong] - The State Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Public Utilities Clement Mbugoniwia told Gurtong that his ministry has developed policies aimed at improving transparency, accountability and decentralisation of services.

“We are committed to ensuring public funds are used appropriately in delivery of services to our people. The service moneys given to officials are not meant for their own use”, said Mbugoniwia.

“We have learnt that some officers use the service money to pay school fees for their children”, he added.

He said his office last week summoned all directors to present their accountability reports ahead of the next budgetary allocation.

Officers who did not submit satisfactory reports were ordered to correct anomalies before they are allocated more funds.
