BOR, 06 July 2012 [Gurtong] – Engineer Abdalla Mohammed who had been contracted by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to supervise the construction of the hospital was arrested as he attempted to smuggle construction materials from the hospital.
According to Police Sergeant Major Abraham Wal Dot, the engineer failed to produce documentation for transporting materials out of the site leading to his arrest.
“Rules of the hospital do not allow anyone to carry any materials outside the compound without proper documentation”, said Dot.
Mohammed however, denied involvement in theft, saying the materials in question were his iron sheets that were kept in the store at the hospital as he did not have proper storage.
He accused the policemen of beating him without asking for the sources of the iron sheets.
“I did not have proper place to accommodate the iron sheets that is why I stored them at the hospital”, he said.
