YEI, 18 July 2012 [Gurtong] –Matthew Ugwak Kidi and Albano Lomuyang have been appointed Chief Administrators for Lafon and Lopa Corridors respectively.

Recently, Charles Udwar Ukech resigned as Deputy Chairperson of a Specialised Standing Committee on Economic Development, Finance and Public Accounts and member of Education, Science and Technology Committee in protest over the rejection of a motion on the grievances of the people in Lafon constituency by the State Assembly.

The delay in appointing the two Chief Administrators was one of the grievances in the motion.

State officials welcomed the Governor’s decision.

The State Government had been petitioned by the Pari Corridor to adopt and respect the original name of the county as per decree of 5 May 2004 establishing Lafon as a county with its headquarters at Lafon.

The Pari of Lafon Corridor preferred the name Lafon as the official County name while Lopit chose to maintain the contested name; Lopa as a unifying name for the county.
