TORIT, 06 August 2012 [Gurtong] — Eastern Equatoria’s Volcano Football Club beat Jonglei’s El-Nijum 3-2 in a friendly game aimed at fostering peace between the two states.
The match was a return leg of a game that was first played last week in Jonglei where Volcano beat El-Nijum 4-2.
Najum were the first to score but they did not hold on to the lead for long. Volcano was energised and they took control of the match till the final whistle.
The mission of the friendly matches is to show the importance of football sport in South Sudan especially between Eastern Equatoria and Jonglei states.
Football is one of the sports that is popular in the region and there is hope that it will bring peace among the youths of South Sudan.
