WAU, 08 August 2012 [Gurtong] - Residents had complained that young school children are being lured into spending time in the local bars situated in residential areas.

Wau County commissioner John Peter Miskin said that some of the bars were playing loud music and harbouring criminals.

A meeting had been organised by the state security agencies, the landlords and owners of bars and hotels in the area to map out appropriate measures of addressing the residents complains.

Wau town has numerous bars and hotels operating without licences within residential areas.

Last year, the state authority issued an order closing all hotels and bars that did not meet the specified requirements.
