WAU, 08 August 2012 [Gurtong] – According to the South Sudan WFP Director Chris Nikoi, the UN agency will start dropping the food in two weeks.

The Sudanese refugees in Upper Nile State are in desperate need of food since they arrived in the area.

Nikoi said in a statement that another 3,000 metric tons costing about US $ 6.5 million will be dropped in Yida, Unity State.

The distribution is expected to commence mid August.

The WFP will also provide special nutritional commodities to children less than 5 years who are suffering from high malnutrition.

Maban County in Upper Nile state hosts more than 150,000 Sudanese refugees who have fled South Kordofan and Blue Nile states following the fighting between the government and rebels.
