RUMBEK, 09 August 2012 [Gurtong] – The Female investigator desk will be responsible for entire Jonglei state women related cases.
Speaking to Gurtong, Bair explained that women rights are being recognized worldwide and that the Police Act allows women rights to be respected.
“Females and Males have to enjoy equal rights especially in dealing with cases related to sexual abuse and domestic violence”, he said.
This is the first time Jonglei state government has introduced a Female Investigation Desk inside police service.
Women across the state had complained that their rights were being violated during the investigations of cases that touched on their gender.
