NAIROBI, 22 August 2012 [Gurtong]- Matip died while undergoing treatment at a clinic in Nairobi, Kenya.
Reports from family indicate that Matip was suffering from diabetes and high blood pressure.
He will be remembered as the first militia leader who sought to reconcile with the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) after the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA).
