JUBA, 08 October 2012 [Gurtong] - The SSNA Clerk Othom Rago told Gurtong that MPs have been recalled from their different constituencies to report to Juba so as to convene for the sitting.

“The SSNA have been recalled from recess and the first sitting will be on the 15th this month. They are supposed to report on the 10th. Now we have started registration of those who are around here and those who are in the States will also follow,” said Othom.

“It is an emergency sitting called actually for the ratification of the agreement,” he said.

The South Sudan parliament broke for a three month recess two months ago and it is anticipated to end on November 2.

Sudan and South Sudan on September 27 stroke a deal on nine agreements on the post secession issues in a peace talks brokered by the African Union High Level Implementation Panel (AUHLIP) in the Ethiopian Capital, Addis Ababa.

The duo signed deals on resumption of oil production, trade, security and cooperation agreements signed by Omar Al Bashir and Salva Kiir.

Both governments of the two nations have highly welcomed the deal as it marks minimization of tension between the neighbouring countries.

South Sudan cabinet last week endorsed the agreements and said it awaits ratification by the SSNA.
