JUBA, September 28 (Gurtong) – The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Dr. Luka Biong Deng, said on Sunday in Juba that Southern Sudan is leading in maternal death rates.

JUBA, September 28 (Gurtong) - The Minister of Regional Co-operation, Government of Southern Sudan, Dr. Barnaba Marial Benjamin, said on Suday that the European Union (EU) refused to release money meant for development in Sudan.

The ship is believed to be carrying 33 Russian-built T-72 tanks and a substantial quantity of ammunition and spare parts.

September 26, 2008 (JUBA) — The Government of Southern Sudan (GoSS) has resolved to scale down its supplementary budget it passed earlier in August due to fall in global oil prices, resulting to decrease in oil revenues flowing from the Khartoum-based Government of National Unity (GoNU).

The government of Southern Sudan participants included Eng. Riek Degol Juer, the Deputy Chair of the North-South Border Technical Committee, Dr.Joshua Akol Otor, Professor of Geography Department, University of Juba and Mr.Joseph Madak Both, Director General of Policy and Monitoring Government of Southern Sudan.

AUSTRALIA, Sept 22 (Gurtong) – The countdown to the Miss South Sudan 2009 beauty pageant in Australia officially began on Saturday with a get together party at Brazilian Touch in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The contest is scheduled for January 2009.

AWEIL, September 22, (Gurtong) – On Saturday morning, youth of NCP in NBEG state held a meeting at the NCP state office to address the need for unity. The youth are being asked to promote unity amongst themselves regardless of their religious and party affiliations.

According to the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, and the Interim National Constitution the two national bodies have to define the legal framework in the fields of joint competence, also to agree on the modalities to implement the federal attributions.

"It is because of the deficit in cash requirement for the Ministry that the Acting Minister has decided the 85% August salary payment" said Mr. Elias Zambayo, the press secretary for the Ministry in an interview with Gurtong.
