BOR, 15 March 2013 [Gurtong] –Majok said they received a great help from ECOM International which offered them with sporting equipments and most of the materials will be distributed to each and every county for promotion of sports.

He said that each commissioner in the county will be responsible for mobilization of youth which will be keeping them engaged in the sporting activities as part of peace building initiative to the people of Jonglei state.

There are so many ongoing activities in state and one of them is football whereby most of the youth have involved themselves in the interstate competition.

“There are so many youth programs that are ongoing and in fact majority of youth in the state like sport programs,” William Grang said.

He said training of handball federation had ended and those who were trained have been considered as ambassadors within the state ministry to train more youth on handball.

“The ECOM just happen to be one of Non Governmental Organization (NGOs) that responded in timely manner otherwise there were some NGOs which were supporting the youth ministry in the first such as UNICEF and United Nation Development Program (UNDP),” he said.

Majok has said that they have sent their request to UNDP but have not received any reply yet.

“We are also doing our best to make sure that NGOs that are here in the names of youth must also support and we will contact them to find out more about their programs of youth in the state,” said Garang.

He urges the youth to be sure and consider themselves as citizens of South Sudan especially Jonglei citizens and be productive in their own counties, Payam and at the state headquarters.

“This nation will not develop if we leave it to other, we have to be committed and dedicated to develop our nation and we also have to be committed in peace building,” said Majok.
