Western Bahr el Ghazal state Information, Broadcasting, Communication and Culture Minister Alfred Derik Oya has officially announced that his state is well prepared to host a seven-day cultural festival.

WAU, 28 March 2013[Gurtong] –
The event will target activities including drama, theatre, art painting, traditional and modern music, traditional, poem, and cinema among others.

The festival will be held between April 6 – 12 2013 at Wau Main stadium and it is expected that President Salva Kiir Mayardit will be the chief guest.

“The idea is actually to promote the cultures and their importance to the upcoming generations,” said Oya.

He also said that the event will morally have some positive impact in creating relationship between the artists in the state.

Oya added that it will also provide a continuation in the production industry aimed at producing films and other arts for the artists in the state.

Oya said that some of the shows will be conducted in different parts including playgrounds and big halls in the state.

Both tradition artists and modern artists are all invited to take part in the show.

This is the first time of its kind to held in the state since South Sudan’s independence in 2011.
