JUBA, 23 July 2013 [Gurtong]- President Salva Kiir has this evening sacked his Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) party Secretary-General Pagan Amum and also dissolved the cabinet, according to a decree announced on television.

The Presidential decree issued on Tuesday evening says all the national and deputy ministers have been suspended and the ministries have also been reduced from 29 to 18.

The reasons for the action have not been made public but we will update as details emerge.

There has been reports of power struggle in SPLM, particularly between Kiir and his vice president Riek Machar who has said he is interested in running for president in the 2015 elections.

Last month, President Kiir suspended two cabinet members and ordered an investigation into corruption allegations. Since January, two other elected governors for Lakes and Unity states have also been sacked under unclear circumstances. Pagan Amum, the relieved SPLM Secretary-General is also the Chief negotiator in the talks with the neighbouring Sudan.

This is a delicate moment in which everyone is required by God
to think about today and tomorrow of our country. We are blessed to have
this wonderful nation, and we will be cursed or punished if we let it go
in unjustifiable way. All we pray for is peace & unity in our country!!

I think this is a right decision from our president to sacked any one who he see is going to takes the country to unreliable situation and drives our people to the previous scenarios and lead to the tribalism cashes among one nation.
He decision is right and I appreciate it.
Long live south Sudan .
