Over 900 Graduate in Torit
TORIT, Dec 18 (Gurtong) - Over 900 forces graduated after a six month training.
538 police, 371 wildlife and 75 firebrigade officers were congratulated by the
Eastern Equatoria State governor, Aloysius Emor Ojetuk. He condemened corruption
and urged the graduates to set an example within the community.

Also present was the Deputy Governor, George Echom who mentioned about the management
of crime. He stated that with the training of this officers, it is hoped that
there will be the minimising of crime such as cattle rustling. However, he noted
that there was need to increase the recruitment of officers. In addition, he stated
that they would introduce patrols within the police and wildlife units.
Also present at the ceremony was Agnes Lukudu, GOSS Minister for Environment,
Wildlife and Tourism. She cited that Torit was a historical town in which the
war between the north and south had began. She encouraged the graduates to be
role models within the community and to other states at large.Despite her being
an member of NCP, she insisted on unity and called for peace among the communities.
She also urged for teh conservation of wildlife and condemend teh killings of
captured poachers.
On the issue of salary payments to state officials, she urged the state authority
to honour their obligations.
The Director for Wildlife for Eastern Equatoria state asked the state commisioners
to cooperate in the rehabilitation of the national parks and game reserves within
the state. They include Nimule National Park, Boma National Park and Imatong Game
Reserve.
He noted that there was still need for more personnel and recruitment would continue.
He also stressed the need for purchase of equipment such as binoculars for the
wildlife officers.
